Monday October 22, 2012

Another pleasant week serving in the London Temple. We were delighted to see Aunt Joyce and Aunt Valerie in the Temple Saturday morning. They came on the Leicester Stake bus and we were able to visit during lunch in the Temple cafeteria. We are looking forward to spending a few days with them at Christmas.

Today we went on an outing to Basildon Park, another fantastic old mansion built in the 18th century. The 2005 film of Pride and Prejudice was shot at this location.

 Basildon Park

Even though we are nearing the end of October, roses were still blooming in the garden.

This will be beautiful in the summer.

Signs of Autumn

Think we will swap this for our 2 seater table!!

Hope our Family and Friends in Calgary are enjoying the snow!!

Have a great week !

Monday October 15 2012

It has now been two weeks since we arrived at the London Temple. We are having a great experience.

London Temple at night

In the Temple this week we met Kevin and Sharon Spencer from our Canyon Creek Ward. What a happy surprise. We also met 7 Icelandic ladies who know Grant & Beth Spackman. One of the ladies is a sister-in-law to Hara Toutai of the Calgary 13th Ward. They all send their love and good wishes.

Our Kitchen

Our Kitchen represents about 1/4 of our Apartment. How do like our two seater little table? It is just right as Goldilocks says!!

Shopping Mall in Crawley

Sister Kiddle "the shopper" had a great time today getting many of the items we couldn't bring with us.

Have a great week everyone.

FROM THE LONDON TEMPLE

We have arrived!

Our first week in the London Temple was very busy. Our training has gone well and we are really enjoying our work in the Temple. We viewed General Conference live at 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM each day. It is always an uplifting experience.

Visit to Ham House and Gardens on our first day off

One of  a series of Grand Houses along side the river Thames. This home is over 400 years old and was owned by the Countess of Dysart. The house was filled with many paintings and ornate furniture. The gardens were most impressive and the English Countryside was at its finest.

                                                             one of the many gardens

As a side note: prior to leaving Provo we spent a day with our cousins Bruce and Melaine Seely who were kind enough to drive us to Payson Canyon to see the autumn colours.

Sunday September 30th

Temple Training - Provo Temple

We have really enjoyed our four days of Temple Training. Elder and Sister Hammond were our Trainers. What a truly spiritual experience. We were excited to learn that Provo Temple does 4,000 baptisms a day between 5 AM and Midnight. It is the busiest temple in the Church.

PROVO TEMPLE

Elder and Sister Barfuss from Medicine Hat Alberta were in the Temple Training with us. They are going to the Manila Philippines Temple. We travelled down with them from Calgary.

We are off to England tomorrow.

September 23/12

1st week at MTC

Monday through Friday we studied Preach my Gospel and learned how to give lessons as a missionary.
This was a challenging but great learning experience. Our teachers were Brother Keddington,Porter, and Lystrup. They were amazing returned missionaries. The senior missionaries were organized into districts of 8. We practiced by teaching "investigators" and other senior couples the first 2 discussions. On Tuesday night we attended a devotional with Elder Paul E. Koelliker of the Seventy as the main speaker. It was inspiring.

Below is a photo of our district. Our afternoon teachers Brother Lystrup and Brother Porter are in the middle. From left to right on the left side are Elder and Sister Yaskus (Lithuania) and Elder and Sister Wilckens (Tennesse). On the right side of us is Elder and Sister Steurer (Rome).

Below is a photo of our morning teacher Brother Keddington with us.

Today we attended a live broadcast of the Brigham City Temple dedication (139th Temple). It was a spiritual feast. In talking to Cameron he confirmed that Calgary will be the 140th Temple dedicated.

After supper today ( and by the way the food is great) we attended a fireside with Stephen B. Allen, Managing Director of the Missionary Department, as the main Speaker. He was a very dynamic speaker. He had us both laughing and crying.

Tomorrow we begin training in the Provo Temple. We leave for London on October 1st.

Our greetings to everyone.

GREETINGS FROM THE MTC

We arrived at the MTC on Saturday just after 6 p.m. We travelled with Elder and Sister Barfuss who are from Medicine Hat. After being shown to our rooms we were taken in a shuttle van to Cafe Rio where we enjoyed a Mexican salad.
Sacrament Meeting was off to a start at 8 a.m. this morning followed by Music and the Spoken Word. The speaker in RS was Sister Sheri Dew. Priesthood was taught by  a young zone leader.
This afternoon we went for a walk- feel like we are in the tropics. A beautiful hot, sunny, blue sky day in Utah . Loved it.

Our first experience in the cafeteria today - great food!

This evening was our first fireside - speaker was W Tracy Watson- Director of Missionary Department Proselyting  Division. He said our best friend should be The Book of Mormon.

Registration is at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Till next time
